Our mission is to produce fact-based analyses that inform constructive interventions, programs, and solutions. We focus on underserved communities and vulnerable populations.
PR recently launched the Immigrant Integration Initiative (i3), a comprehensive program offering services, resources, and tools to help immigrant families adapt and thrive in their new environments. Through i3, we strive to foster independence, resilience, and long-term success, empowering immigrants to build fulfilling lives and confidently contribute to their communities with respect and dignity.

Background:

King County is home to a diverse immigrant and refugee population who face unique transportation challenges in accessing education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. To address these barriers, PR aims to create an accessible, user-friendly guide to public and community transportation systems. This resource will empower immigrants to navigate transportation options effectively and improve their mobility and access to vital services.

Objective:

To develop a comprehensive, culturally sensitive presentation tailored to the transportation needs of immigrants and refugees, focusing on King County’s public transit systems and community mobility resources.

Scope of Work:

The consultant will be responsible for:

1.Content Development

  • Create an engaging and visually appealing presentation covering:
  • Overview of King County’s Transportation System: Public transit, light rail, buses, ferries, and paratransit options.
  • Navigating Transit: Fare systems, passes (e.g., ORCA card), routes, schedules, and trip planning.
  • Accessibility Options: Services for individuals with disabilities, seniors, and those with limited English proficiency.
  • Safe Commuting Tips: Safety guidelines, emergency contacts, and transit etiquette.
  • Community Transportation Resources: Carpools, ride-shares, and immigrant support organizations offering transit help.
  • Green Travel Options: Walking, biking paths, and their integration with public transit.
  • Addressing Barriers: Language assistance, fare discounts, and free transportation programs.
  • Provide materials for a presentation adaptable for both in-person and virtual delivery.

2. Design and Format

  • Use simple language, visuals, and culturally relevant examples to enhance understanding.
  • Ensure materials are accessible in multiple languages and formats, considering diverse literacy levels.

3. Consultation and Review

  • Engage with stakeholders, including immigrant families, community organizations, and local transit authorities, to ensure cultural sensitivity and relevance.
  • Incorporate feedback from project leads and stakeholders.

4. Deliverables

  • An editable PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes.
  • Any supporting materials, a one-page resource guide, and references.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in transportation, migration, or community development.
  • Strong knowledge of King County’s transportation systems and challenges faced by immigrant populations.
  • Excellent presentation design and communication skills, with expertise in culturally responsive approaches.
  • Ability to engage with diverse communities and incorporate their input effectively.
  • High work ethic, demonstrating reliability, accountability, and commitment to quality outcomes.

Timeline:

  • Project Start Date: December 10, 2024
  • Draft Presentation Submission: December 25, 2024
  • Final Deliverables Submission: January 10, 2025
