Recently, PR launched the Immigrant Integration Initiative (i3), a comprehensive program offering services, resources, and tools to help immigrant families not only adapt but also thrive in their new environments. Through i3, we strive to foster independence, resilience, and long-term success, empowering immigrants to build fulfilling lives and confidently contribute to their communities with respect and dignity.
Position Summary:
We are seeking two passionate and dedicated Afghan Community and System Navigators to join our team. These roles focus on supporting Afghan refugees, immigrants, and other community members by connecting them with resources, helping them understand local systems, and advocating for their needs. This is a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on the Afghan community. Professional fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English is required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Afghan community members in navigating local systems, including healthcare, education, transportation, housing, financial system and other social services.
- Provide information and support in accessing available resources and services.
- Build relationships with Afghan community members to better understand their needs and challenges.
- Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and non-profit and private entities to coordinate services and referrals.
- Facilitate communication and understanding between Afghan community members and service providers.
- Translate and interpret in Pashto, Dari, and English to ensure effective communication.
- Conduct outreach to raise awareness of available resources and services within the Afghan community.
- Maintain records of interactions and track community needs for reporting and program improvement.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure cohesive support.
- Perform other relevant tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English (both spoken and written) is required.
- Strong knowledge of Afghan culture, values, and the challenges faced by Afghan refugees and immigrants.
- Previous experience in community work, social services, or advocacy is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong sense of empathy and humility.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passionate about supporting and empowering the communities.
- Familiarity with social services available in the King County area.
