About the study:

It is well documented in the literature that Afghan immigrants and refugees face immense challenges. These are particularly prevalent in regard to both employment and access to healthcare.  there is literature to support the presence of these challenges little data addresses why these challenges persist, solutions to address them, and the direct correlation that employment status has on healthcare. Therefore through the partnership with numerous Afghan communities in the state of Washington, we created a survey, to better understand the lived experiences of these individuals and their perspective on the challenges of finding employment in the US, and the impact these barriers have on their health. As community and state resources to assist the growing population of Afghan Immigrants are variable, the survey explores the experiences of Afghan immigrants in Washington specifically, to better understand and create viable solutions for this population in particular.
